Peyton's Big Mountain House Review - Plain, boring and a little dirty- Nice view

Can't say much good about this place except for the view. Its basically just a big cheap gaudy house in a subdivision. Poorly decorated and cheaply also. Bunk beds still have stickers on them from Wal-Mart and the rest of the furnishings just go to show that the owners don't have the money to make the place nice. Sure its nice enough, but it is just so bland. It's not rustic, it doesnt feel like a vacation house or exotic destination. If you have any expectations or want to have a true experience or live it up, I would not advise this place. If your just bored and have nothing better to do and don't mind some of the poor cleaning habits and attitude from the owner I could recommend. Clearly if the owner is charging $275 for a cleaning fee, he must be pocketing that money for himself because some people might find it really gross. I'm a little tough so it doesnt bother me, but the wife was disturbed.

Peyton's Big Mountain House- Review

We stayed here last fall and I was horrified by the rat droppings I found in the cabinets and dirty washtubs. The owners were a little rude, but not too bad, but the house was dreadful. This house is not worth the price and there are many more that deserve your dollar.

Peyton's Big Mountain House filthy! NEVER CLEANS COMFORTERS!

After some time in Peyton's Big Mountain House I will never return. The house looks nice in the photos but once you get there you realize that it is just a cheap, poorly decorated modern construction and that the owners have NO taste in decorating and above all- in cleanliness!

There was filth all over the baseboards and grime in the tub that we had to scrub away. There was hair and what looked like dead skin in the sink and a foul smell coming from somewhere downstairs. Above all there were crusty stains from bodily fluids heavily matted all over the comforters. Not just one, but ALL of them were dirty and clearly had not been washed.

To top it all off, there were RAT DROPPINGS ALL OVER THE KITCHEN!

I will never go back, and after many years of vacationing in the Blue Ridge Mountains this house was terrible and its owners where rude, bossy and unprofessional.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Peyton's Big House is an AWFUL vacation rental!

We rented this property for a special occasion. It all began when we contacted the Owner and had initially set up a date for rental.

 At first he was very professional (I really enjoyed speaking with him) and we confirmed the dates "verbally" (just to be SURE) that were "available" online. Many friends and family members took time off of work and booked plane tickets from many different states. Mind you all of this was done many months in "advance". 

Later after weeks of trying to get a hold of the owner to receive the application and sure everything up the dates that had been CONFIRMED with him personally were all of the sudden blocked out and he was unreachable. 

As you can imagine the stress of this with many family and friends already taking time off work and having spent hundreds and thousands of dollars. "Still" we push forwards after receiving an email from his stating "you need to pick another date" . No explanation, no Im sorry , no offer to compensate. We pick new dates and then "again" for weeks and weeks we are not able to reach anyone. Finally 4 DAYS before the scheduled trip we are forced to contact Virbo. 

Thank God they assist us and finally we are reached. Keep in mind this is after many, many, many, emails , phone calls and texts with no response. When we finally arrive at the house it is dirty, hair on the sheets etc, etc. 

We have to figure out ourselves how to turn on the pilots for hot water, which switches are for what all over the house etc etc. Still we stay positive and try and enjoy our trip. Before leaving we pick up and leave the house like it was our own home. we fold sheets, empty trash and leave much better than when we arrived. We take pictures and video of it all just for record. Well now we come to find out that our deposit was not returned and charged. 

Words cannot describe...Its very sad to say because the house is so perfect for a relaxing get away and the environment is beautiful. 

However I have 4 words for you DO NOT STAY HERE, DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. 

Keep in mind that even after all we went through I would not be writing this negative review had they not been so low as too keep our deposit and after all they put us through. It simply isnt right, and very unfair. I sincerely hope they fix these problems and those of managing it so many can indeed enjoy this great place. This is the FIRST review I have ever written in my LIFE. 

I would sincerely hate for "anyone" to have to go though what we have been through.
